About
Welcome to five2nine.dev, a blog dedicated to documenting my escape from the 9-5 life that I hate so much.
I started this blog after a sleep deprived twitter binge that made me realize that sitting around complaining about disliking my job isn't going to get me any closer to working for myself, so I dedicated the next two years as a time frame for me to build anything and everything it will take for me to quit my job and work independently.
What I Do
I am a professional software engineer with a pretty wide range of experience, but I have not built much independently. Here are my focuses for this project:
- AI Tools: AI has grown disgustingly fast over the past couple of years. Products like Cursor were unthinkable when I graduated from college, and now they're the standard for allowing solo founders to pump out products as fast as they do. I will document my learning and usage of these products.
- Entrepreneurship: While I'd like to think I know a good bit about branding, marketing, and everything else involved in a business, I probably don't. I will document my learnings of anything and everything when it comes to running a small business. Some of my projects won't be monetized, but in order to replace my income, many will have to be. I will cover the ups and downs of this process.
- Consistency: Nobody reaches a goal through sporadic and inconsistent effort. I'm not talking about the cringe grindset guys that wake up and take a cold shower at 2am before running a half marathon. I just mean showing up and doing something towards the goal every day. Some days I may just test my own code manually to feel out the user experience, some days I may build an entire project in one sitting. The point is that I do something every single day, no matter what.
